Join Gilchrist Farm’s inaugural Scarecrow Showdown! Families, youth groups, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses are invited to create an original scarecrow for display during our 2026 Harvest Festival & Pumpkin Patch.

Scarecrow Workshops: September 12, 19, and 26
Drop in anytime from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM. Join us to make your special edition or make it on your own!

Registration Closes: September 26

Scarecrow Setup and Judging: October 3

Scarecrow Stroll and People’s Choice Voting: October 3–31

Scarecrow Takedown: November 1. Retrieve anything you would like returned.

SETUP INFORMATION

Setup will take place from 7:00 AM–12:00 PM on October 3. This time is intended for delivery, anchoring, and final touches. Scarecrows should arrive largely preassembled.

ENTRY FEES

Families and Individuals: $10

Schools and Youth Groups: Free. Registration Required.

Community Nonprofits: Free. Registration Required.

Local Businesses: $50

CONTEST RULES

Entries must be handmade and family-friendly.
Each scarecrow must have a name and a short story.
Scarecrows must be between 4 and 8 feet tall.
The complete display must fit within a 5-foot by 5-foot space.
Entries must be sturdy and weather-resistant.
No hazardous materials are permitted.
